The Overmountain Shelter (also known as the Yellow Mountain Shelter) is a barn that has been converted to a shelter for hikers on the Appalachian Trail. It is located 5.3 miles north of Carver's Gap on the Roan Mountain area of the Appalachain Trail. It is a 2 story shelter with space for 30+ hikers/campers. It offers beautiful views of the valley and has a privy. There is also a near by water source. There is lots of land around the barn for tents also.
