Located in Hampton, TN Doe River Gorge is a section of the historic Tweetsie Railroad (East Tennessee and Western North Carolina Railroad). The majority of the land is privately owned by a Christian Adventure Camp of the same name, Doe River Gorge. The narrow gauge railroad was built in the 1880's and stopped functioning in 1950. The Doe River Gorge portion of the Tweetsie was one of the most scenic portions. There were 5 tunnels and several trestles as the track winds through the narrow gorge.
